How To Write Good Content For Your Blog

Most people want to own a blog or own a website with a blog page. Some have even designed their website/blog and hosted it.

But they do not know what to write on the blog or how to get the information they need to start writing.

This article discusses how to write good content for your blog or website. This blog is to help anyone who want to own a blog and does not know what to write about.

Determine the purpose of your website/blog

First and foremost, there must be a purpose for owning a website/blog. The purpose to some extent determines the domain name, its look and feel, structure, navigation and content.

This purpose must be conceive around an entity.

Here, an entity can be a person, a place, an event, an activity, a concept and so on. Once, you understand the purpose of the website, you will be able to identify the subject to write on. This will determine the content of the website/blog and how it will be presented to the visitors.

The purpose of the website determines your niche.

This should cover what you know about the entity,

what you like and do not like about the entity,

Why you like or do not like the entity,

how you can make others to like it and so on.

You must have passion for the entity and this will drive your writing and content.

Start thinking about the entity

After determining the purpose of your website/blog, there is the need to develop passion for it.

Then you can start thinking about the entity to determine the subject areas and how you would like to write them. You can also think about stories that involve the entity that impressed you that you will like to share with others. All these will assist you to think about how you will to present the entity to the world.  

You have to organize your thoughts and information in the manner that you will like to presented to people. This may be a little bit difficult, so an easy way is to present it in the way you like it presented to yourself.

At this stage, you there is no need to  think about the information that will interest everyone. You will understand what will interest everyone about the entity from the comments that visitors will be make on your published articles and their general response.

During this thinking process, you may identify some new information that you will like to share with other. Be determined to gather these information and share them with others.

Remember that the entity you are writing about has names like politics, news, education, music (mp3), videos and photos and so on. You can research more on these to gather more information.

 Sources of information

There are many sources of information for great ideas that can be used to create good contents for your website. However, you must focus on the purpose of the website in order to gather the relevant information that will improve on your content and online credibility.

• Books and Publications

  Currently there are a lot of information and ideas in books, journals, newspapers, brochures and other materials that are relevant to the contents of your website. This can be gotten by reading them, filtering the relevant ideas and documenting them. Reading will also aid self-development, knowing that you can become creative by mastering what others have done.

• Using search engines

  Search engines can be used to search for information in the internet and use them like the books and publications above. Also, visiting other similar website will provide a guide to what others are doing and assist you in preparing and presenting your ideas. While visiting other sites, there is the need to have a critical mind to analyze the ideas presented, admire the ones you like and criticize the ones you do not like. In all learn something from them.  

• Discussing with others

  One can get a lot of information by discussing with people who understands the topic that is being discussed.

  Engaging people who understands the purpose of your website can generate a lot of ideas that will help you to build good web content and improve on your creativity.

  This can be in the form of questions and answers, brainstorming, interviews and so on. You can also ask for people’s view and assumptions in order to get more insight to arrive at a conclusion and improve the quality of your ideas.

• Collaboration and social networking

  Most social networking sites have discussion groups. Joining an effective and smart online community can expose you to a lot of information that can sharpen your ideas by collaborating with other and joining discussions. Social networking is a good place to discuss pros and cons of a concept and can provide a feel of how online users react to some ideas and so on.

Write the good content yourself

Basically, you can write articles, stories or blogs yourself or let other do it for you. I would recommend that you write it yourself because this is what I do and I can write a little.

You need to write the article yourself because of your passion about the entity. Others may not have similar passion. So you know what to present and how you want it presented and you can vet the accuracy of the content.

However, if for whatever reason, you find it necessary to have someone else to write it for you, always spend some time scrutinizing it before publishing.
