Classification of websites by ownership
A website must be owned by either a person, a business or other organizations and a government/agency. When websites are classified using their Classifying website by their ownership, then we have the following types of websites:
- Personal Websites
- Company websites
- Organization websites
- Government websites
Personal websites
These are websites owned by an individual and its purpose is to present information and activities about the individual. These websites contains information that are dedicated to the person. Most of them have the .name domain name extension and some has .com. Examples are www.shehu.com.ng, www.hrmelegushi.org, www.barackobama.com
Company web sites
These are websites own by a company. Therefore, they are in business to profit and their websites contains information on their business, services and clients. The webpages do not change often and it is more like their online brochure or corporate profile. Most of them have .com domain name extension. Some examples are www.firstplus.ng, www.facebook.com etc
Organization websites
These are websites owned by organization that are not profit oriented. These covers websites owned by social clubs, associations, churches, mosques so on. Common examples are www.firstplus.org.ng, www.ncs.org.ng
Government websites
Government websites are owned by government and their agencies. Some examples are www.statehouse.gov.ng, www.services.org.ng www.nigeriaembassyusa.org ,
